Still, it seems like most of these are constrained to small businesses and startups. Large corporations still use their traditional vendors for design, and I'll tell you, those prices are staggeringly high...

I believe the US's IP protection is among the strongest in the world; if you want to look at loose IP, take a look at PRC, or Russia...

Re: “Fuck you and crowdSPRING too.” – Who’s hatin’ on crowdsourcing now?

What's potentially even more worrisome about crowdsourcing is the devaluing of intellectual property for the individual designer. Because a lot of students/starting designers are desperate to get contracts, companies can buy dozens of ideas for near-criminal prices. Loose protection of IP has contributed to the inability of the US to establish a strong technological lead in the world today, so I think further diluting the value of design is a step in the wrong direction.

Then again, IP concerns aren't limited to crowdsourcing -- crowdsourcing just bugs me because it establishes a trend of undervaluing IP.

Re: “Fuck you and crowdSPRING too.” – Who’s hatin’ on crowdsourcing now?

http://socialgeekette.com/2009...
and hey, you already have a comment from 99designs, awesome.

Re: “Fuck you and crowdSPRING too.” – Who’s hatin’ on crowdsourcing now?

Thanks for your perspective Alexander.

Cheers,
Jason
99designs.com

Re: Social Mores of the 21st Century

Good boy.
